First things first. What exactly is STEM? It is the combination of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The amount of those in the STEM field is very limited, especially the amount of women, specifically African-American women. According to the NCWIT Stats, women make up 25% of the computing workforce, and of that only 3% of them are African-American. Our goal is to bring attention to that percentage, and build a greater influence of African-American women in the STEM world.
